Abstract

$25 Reward. Three persons, one man about 5ft Sin high, weigh 155 pounds, dark complexion, smooth face, dark hair, dark clothes, soft black hat, one man 5ft 7in, light complexion, light sandy bait, little light mustache of two weeks growth, new black coat sprinkled with gray, soft light hat, weight 125 pounds, one woman, small, dark complexion, dark hair, dressed in white dress trimmed in black and had a new grey skirt with her. They had three umbrellas and a light-colored leather hand grip with them. They will go into a town and stop at some rooming house or cheap hotel and claim· to be carpenters or plasters or some other mechanics and then they will pick out some contractors name of the town and then procure some blank checks and make them out for about a week’s work and sign the contractors name and go to the merchants of the town and buy some small articles and offer the check in payment and get balance in cash. They will dress as the job that they claim to work at, but they never work. They will do their work on Saturday after supper so as to have 'till Monday to make their escape. They worked Hutchinson, Kansas, on July 26, and Dodge City on August 2. They gave names as C. Davis, Lewis Hilgerband, C. Lewis, F. W. Lewis, and Dodson. They left here August 2nd. for La Junta, Colorado. Notify your business men to look out for them. They may all dress as men or as above stated or in new clothes. Keep a lookout for them. Are wanted for forgery. Above reward for arrest and delivery to me in any jail. GRANT HALE, Sheriff. Dodge City, Kansas
